Appy Sluijs wins Vening Meinesz prize
Dr. Appy Sluijs, Darwin Center researcher and working for Utrecht University, has won the NWO-Vening Meinesz prize. This prize is given by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research to the most promising earth scientist who recently defended his/her PhD thesis. Sluijs received the prive of 10.000 euros during the ‘Nederlands Aardwetenschappelijk Congres’ on 23 April in Veldhoven.
Since 1 January 2010 Dr. Appy Sluijs (1980) is assistant professor at Utrecht University. By studying fossil remains of algae he reconstructs climate variations in the geological past.
